What is a reverse osmosis system?

It is one of the most complex water filters. Reverse osmosis is a way to create purified water. A solvent is passed through a membrane that is semipermeable, in a direction opposite of that of osmosis when put under hydrostatic pressure higher than the osmosis pressure.

General Electric - Makes them for refrigerators and sinks. You can buy a filter that fits into your refrigerator's water dispenser. These are pretty cool and quite easy to change.

Culligan - These filters remove almost all traces of:

• minerals

• other contaminants 

Remember: Minerals may not sound dangerous and usually they are not. Too many in your water though, like anything else, is not good for you. It will make the water taste bad too.

Point of entry systems - If you get your water from wells you are probably going to use a reverse osmosis point of entry system. These are also referred to as whole house.

Point of use systems - Systems used at your sink or in the shower and not necessarily through the whole house.

Yes, you can get UV systems for your home, but they are more expensive than other filtration systems.
